Xûr comes and goes freely, his strange curios eagerly sought by adventurous Guardians.
― In-game description

Xûr, Agent of The Nine is a strange being who occasionally appears from time to time, selling strange weapons and armor to Guardians. He serves the ancient beings known as The Nine.

Gameplay[]

In Destiny, Xûr is a vendor who sells exotic weapons, exotic armor, engrams, Exotic Shards, and consumables in exchange for Strange Coins and Motes of Light. He appears in different locations in the Tower and Vestian Outpost every weekend from 9:00 AM Friday to 9:00 AM Sunday UTC. The Agent of the Nine disappears every Sunday and won’t return until next Friday.

In Destiny 2, Xûr can appear in the locations The Tower (Hangar), European Dead Zone (Winding Cove), and Nessus (Watcher’s Grave). You can look for him from Friday, 10 a.m. PDT (12 p.m. EST / 5 p.m. GMT), until the next Weekly Reset on Tuesday. Instead of Strange Coins, Xûr accepts Legendary Shards and Glimmer in exchange for armor, Exotic and Legendary weapons. Every week, he also sells Hawkmoon, Exotic Hand Cannon, for 125k Glimmer, 200 Legendary Shards, 1 Exotic Cipher, and 1 Ascendant Shard.[1]

Dares of Eternity[]

During the Beyond Light year, Bungie released the 30th Anniversary Package DLC, which included a new activity called Dares of Eternity. Xûr serves as its main vendor with his personal Treasure Hoard, where players can purchase a variety of unique cosmetic items. Additionally, Xûr started to bring back Strange Coins, which can be spent on Bounties, Legendary engrams, Paraversal Haul containers, and more.

Trivia[]

  • During Halloween 2014 and 2015, Xûr sold Flight of Shadows.
  • In one of the dialogues in Destiny 1, Xûr mentions that the Light harms him.
  • For the first few hours of his second week in the Tower in Destiny, Xûr offered Strange Coins in exchange for Spinmetal and Spirit Bloom.
    • This was immediately removed by Bungie due to players taking advantage of this system to acquire large quantities of Strange Coins.
  • Xûr is always in a semi-bent position due to a past back injury sustained after an encounter with a Guardian known as Orin.
  • Technically, Xur works simultaneously in two places. In Destiny 2: Season of the Lost, he was hired by the entity called Starhorse to host a show called Dares of Eternity for its amusement.
  • Xûr is the only constant source of Exotic Cipher in Destiny 2.
    • Other methods include paid Season Pass rewards and the Forsaken DLC.
  • After Destiny Update 1.1 was released, Xûr began selling upgrades that increased an equipped exotic weapon's Attack Power from 274/300 to 302/331 or an equipped armor piece's Light attribute from 21/30 to 30/36.
  • With the release of Destiny 2: The Final Shape DLC, Xûr will undergo the most significant changes since the release of Destiny 2.
