Warlocks have long studied the Traveler, mastering some of its arcane energies. Its true purpose still remains a great mystery, but discovering truth has always driven you into the unknown. Now, our enemies are the only thing that stands between you and the lost wonders of our Golden Age"
— Bungie.net description[1]

The Warlock is a player class in Destiny which specializes in combining "magic" powers granted by The Traveler with modern weapons.[1][2]

Warlocks have long studied The Traveler, which gives rise to their ability to harness some of its powers.[1]

In appearance, Warlocks can be distinguished by their rounded helmets and long coats.[2] As with the other player classes, in addition to head, chest, arm, and leg armor, Warlocks have a special fifth armor slot that is unique to their class and further helps to distinguish them from their brethren in arms.[3] The Warlock's unique armor is a bond (armband) worn on the upper-left arm.[3]

Focuses

The following are the known focuses for Warlocks:

  • Circle of Night
  • Heart of Fusion

Design and inspiration

During a Bungie panel at GDC 2013, Bungie stated that the Warlock class is meant to be reminiscent of the "space wizard," citing as influences the Star Wars series' Jedi knights, The Lord of the Rings series' Gandalf, and The Matrix series' Morpheus. For outfit designs, attire worn by trench soldiers in the first World War has been cited as a source of inspiration.[4]
