Mars is a planet in Destiny. The only visitable location on Mars is Meridian Bay.
During the Golden Age, Mars was once home to a populated human metropolis, Freehold, a massive city that now lies buried beneath the planet's red dust, with only the peaks of its tallest skyscrapers poking out of the dunes as evidence that it ever existed.[1][2] Guardians can now climb into those skyscrapers from their upper levels and venture into the depths below to discover what items and enemies may lie below the surface.[1]
The Traveler arrived on Mars before it was discovered by humanity.

Inhabitants
Certain areas of the planet are currently under occupation by the Cabal.[1] The Vex are also at war with the Cabal, and the two species may frequently be found fighting against each other on Mars.[1]
