A Hunter activates the Golden Gun ability.

Golden Gun is a Hunter Super Ability used by the Gunslinger subclass in Destiny.[1][2]

Destiny[edit | edit source]

Activating Golden Gun gives the player a powerful hand cannon that causes devastating thermal damage. In the Crucible, Golden Gun can kill another player with one shot.[1][2] Golden Gun can be used for three shots or until the super bar fully drains.[2]

Modifiers[edit | edit source]

  • Deadeye: Significantly increases the accuracy of Golden Gun.
  • Combustion: Killing enemies with Golden Gun causes them to explode after about one second.
  • Gunfighter: Reduces the cooldown of Golden Gun, allowing it to be used more often.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The name "Golden Gun" may be a reference to a weapon of the same name from the James Bond series. It is also notable amongst gamers for its appearance in numerous James Bond videogames, most notably Goldeneye 007, where it received its own Multiplayer mode.
  • In Destiny 2, while using Path of the Outlaw, the Golden Gun uses the same model as the exotic Hand Cannon, The Last Word. Conversely, while using Path of the Sharpshooter, the Golden Gun shares the same model with the Legendary hand cannon, Eyesluna. Furthermore, equipping the Celestial Nighthawk, exotic Helmet changes the model for the Golden Gun to the model used for the exotic Hand Cannon, The First Curse.
  • In Game Lore suggests that the the Golden Gun Super Technique can differ in shape, power, range and mag/clip size between Gaurdians and instances. This is shown by Cayde-6's Golden Gun resembling the exotic Hand Cannon, Ace of Spades while battling the Scorn in The Prison of Elders. The lore also suggests that Rifles and Sidearms may be a common shape of Golden Gun instances as well, but that is up for interpretation. Thinking about that, it is technically possible for the golden gun to be a rocket launcher or a bow. That means that Dawnblade and Sunbreaker could possible be THE SAME THING as golden gun!
