Nox Fury IV

Nox Fury IV, a rare fusion rifle.

Fusion Rifles are an energy-based, medium ranged special weapon category in Destiny used by Guardians. These weapons must be charged up to fire, while each charge speed varies per weapon.[1]

Fusion rifles' over-penetrating burst fire, incredible power, and advanced energy disbursement technology make them "a favorite of daring weapons collectors."[2]

Warning! The following information is conjecture and is not official or dependable.

Although fusion rifles such as the Conduit F3 have numerous similarities to other primary weapons such as Pulse Rifles, including in appearance, burst-fire configurations, and assault-style sights, Bungie has described at least one Guardian loadout as containing an Auto Rifle (a primary weapon), a Sniper Rifle (a special weapon), and a fusion rifle,[3] strongly suggesting that the fusion rifle is a heavy weapon.

Article conjecture ends here.

Design and Inspiration

Fusion rifles are a new, emerging technology for Guardians, reverse-engineered from technology captured from hostile species.[2] Early fusion rifles were deemed inherently unstable and suffered from possibly faulty radiation shielding.[2] Modern fusion rifles such as the Conduit F3 solve this problem through a barrel configuration that "dampens the wattage use needed to power the inertial chamber".[2]

Notably, the magazine of the weapon is a large, battery-like object inserted directly into the flat bottom of the weapon when reloaded.
