The Fallen are a scourge, tirelessly engaged in war against us and scavenging all that remains.[1]

The Fallen, colloquially known as Spider Pirates, are a nomadic race of four-armed bipedal humanoids species of pirates and mercenaries located on Earth and the Moon, and are one of the primary antagonist races in the Destiny series. [2][3]

Biology and Morphology

The Fallen are an agile six-limbed insect-like race with four prehensile arms and two ambulatory legs capable of scaling walls with ease.[4] The race expresses a complex understanding of technology as they possess advanced armor, weapons, vehicles and space-faring capabilities.[5]

Fallen can survive in a wide range of environments without heavy armor or complex modifications to their physiology. They travel modestly, attack swiftly, and disappear after engagement almost instantly. They are also known to stalk their enemies and use group tactics to overwhelm Guardians.

When killed, Fallen's souls are "ripped out of their body",[6] visually appearing to "lift up and away like wisps."[7]

Geography

While the Fallen often squat in abandoned facilities on various worlds such as Earth, the Moon, and Europa, they are nomadic and therefore have no permanent strongholds in these regions, but instead call their starships home. According to the Fallen themselves, they have claimed every planet and moon that humanity once held.

Hierarchy

The Fallen are organized into distinct houses of nobility, some of which are as hostile to each other as they are to Humans, which suggests that there is brutal infighting within the species itself.[8] In combat, Fallen warriors operate in packs led by Captains and sometimes employ small drones called Shanks and/or large spider-like war machines known as Devil Walkers. Though they are not seen in the game (so far), according to the Grimoire Fallen Houses are led by Kells.

Shank

Single Shank

Shanks are airborne drones that possess minimal intelligence, and attack in large numbers. They serve as cannon fodder. Template:Clr

Dreg

Dreg

Dregs are the lowest ranking Fallen in the chain of command. They are thieves driven by desperation and rage. They are crafty, but tend to forfeit their position with their clattering and hissing. Dregs wield shock daggers and pistols, and can be easily distinguished from other Fallen ranks by only having two arms as opposed to the usual four.[1] Template:Clr

Vandal

Vandal

Vandals are of a higher rank than Dregs, with weapons capable of long-range attacks and deadlier force. The disadvantage of Vandal's powerful weapons is their requirement of a longer charge time.[1] Template:Clr

Captain

Captain

Captains are fiercest of the Fallen hierarchy, distinguished by their heavy armor, twin swords, and adorned cape. Captains have a sense of nobility about them and consider humanity to be an inferior race.[1] Template:Clr

Servitor

Servitor Small

Servitors are floating, spherical Fallen enemies that have powerful attack capabilities, launching void projectiles from an eye-like structure on their frames. Template:Clr

Kells

Kells are the leaders of the Fallen Houses, according to the Grimoire. It was they who declared that all of Humanity's territories now belong to the Fallen Houses.

Technology

Fallen technology is highly advanced, with the possession of energy weapons, advanced armor, automated attack drones, heavy vehicles, and space faring capabilities.[9]

Notable Fallen

Notable Houses

  • House of Devils: The House of Devils consists of a House of Fallen warriors who inhabit the abandoned facilities of Old Russia. Their signature color is red.
  • House of Exiles: The House of Exiles can be found on the Moon, in the Ocean of Storms. They inhabit the old Moon facilities that were abandoned upon the arrival of the Hive. Their signature color is green and their most notable attribute is their extensive use of Pikes.
