The official timeline for the Destiny beta.
The Destiny Public Beta is a free, open-to-all beta test of Destiny that will begin on July 17, 2014,[1] exclusively on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 platforms,[2] with Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms getting access on July 23, 2014. The time period for the Beta, which was originally announced for "early 2014",[3] was pushed back to coincide with Destiny's delayed launch date.[4]
The Beta will encompass most of the major game modes and activities that will be available in the final game, and will only be guaranteed available to those who have pre-ordered a copy of Destiny[5] (but note that Bungie also occasionally has given away Beta access codes on its website, social media accounts, and as contest rewards).[6][7] The Beta will be available on all platforms on which Destiny will initially launch, and is available to any person who has pre-ordered the game on any of those platforms.[5] Each person may obtain one code to access the Beta per platform on which he or she has pre-ordered the game.[5]
