Defender is a Titan subclass in Destiny. The subclass is unlocked when any of a player's characters reach level 15. It is geared toward mitigating damage with the use of deployable shields via the use of the Defender's Super Ability, Ward of Dawn and Melee Ability, Disintegrate. A number of the passive abilities can also buff the team via Ward of Dawn.

|Ward of Dawn|
|Shape Void Light into an indestructible shield to protect you and your allies from harm. Replenishes grenade and melee energy on activation.|
Super Ability Modifiers
|Armor of Light|
|While inside Ward of Dawn you and your allies gain significant damage resistance.|
|Blessing of Light|
|Passing through Ward of Dawn grants you and your allies a temporary shield.|
|Weapons of Light|
|Passing through Ward of Dawn grants you and your allies a temporary increase to weapon damage.|
|Killing an enemy with this powerful melee attack creates a Force Barrier around you which absorbs incoming damage.|

|While Force Barrier is active all your melee kills create Orbs of Light.|

- Helm of Saint-14: Your Ward of Dawn blinds enemies who enter it.
- No Backup Plans: Increases the duration of Force Barrier, shotgun kills trigger Force Barrier.
- The Glasshouse: Blessing of Light and Weapons of Light last longer.
- Force Barrier lasts 15 seconds. Relentless increases it to 20 seconds and is stackable with No Backup Plans.
- Ward of Dawn lasts 30 seconds. Bastion increases it to 45 seconds.
- Weapons of Light increases damage output by 25%. Illuminated increases it to 35%.
