Borealis is an exotic sniper rifle which can be equipped by all classes. It can also be transferred between characters using the vault. Borealis can be dismantled to generate Glimmer.

Borealis will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 until at least Fall 2018.[1]

This item has the following lore associated:

“Project Borealis's onboard systems contain a pocket energy matrix capable of changing its alignment in a near instant to mimic the spectral frequencies of mapped energy types. The science is groundbreaking, but volatile. We're lucky to have this first, stable model available for active combat use.
