Shaxx put the gun on the table. He examined it closely.
”I don’t understand why you don’t use the guns I gave you, Guardian! I made them just for you.
”They don’t seem to work anymore. They’re weaker.”
“I guess the sun sets on old weapons,” The former Warlord speculated. “And new ones become more and more complex. Where’d you get this?”
”Eris Morn gave it to me.”
”Explains why it’s strange.”
”Is it allowed in the Crucible?”
”Hmm. Pick up a calibrator from Banshee. Test it out in the field, then we’ll check it out.”
The Guardian nodded at him and began walking away.
“Guardian?” Shaxx called out to him. He turned to face the masked legend. “Be careful with that. Something about it is… familiar.”
The Guardian continued on his way.
The transmat dropped him into the Cosmodrome. He drew his new Cannon and walked out onto the field, passing Shaw Han.
”I still remember the day I found you, Guardian.”
”So do I, Ghost. I remember how you got hit by a Dreg and it changed your voice!”
“I remember that too. But I also remember how quickly you adapted. You’ve grown a lot Guardian. We’ve done great things.”
The Guardian spotted a roaming Vandal. He aimed his Cannon, and pulled the trigger. The Vandal screamed in agony and fell to the ground. The Guardian felt the gun buzz. The purple had become more vibrant… more powerful. Suddenly he heard a loud cry. A horde of Dregs and Vandals were running towards him. Instinctively, he fired the weapon without aiming. There was a large explosion, and the horde was gone. Their bodies disintegrated into the Old Russia air.
“What was that?” The Ghost exclaimed.
”I don’t know. Let me try again.”
He fired the weapon from the hip. A streak of purple flew out into the air and crashed into the ground.
“Interesting.”
The Guardian and his Ghost continued through the Cosmodrome, obtaining information for the Calibrator.
”Guardian. The energy levels are off the charts here. The Calibrator is overheating from this!”
The Guardian stopped shooting the gun.
”Let’s bring it to Shaxx.” He said.
”Don’t get your hopes up about using this in the Crucible. This kind of energy level is banned.”
”We should bring it to Shaxx anyway.”
They arrived in the Tower shortly after and rushed to meet Shaxx. They showed him the calibrator results.
”Ah. Energy levels are just right.”
”What?” The Ghost said.
”Look.” Shaxx showed him the calibrator. The energy levels were not what they had seen on the Cosmodrome.
”Thank you. Hopefully this’ll get me into first place in Rumble!”
“I’ll be watching!” Shaxx said, as the Guardian walked back to the Hangar.
