“Did Eris seem… off to you?”
”She’s always ‘off.’ That’s just her style”
”I know but this time-“
”Alright alright. What does your guardian think.”
The Guardian simply glanced at his new weapon. He said nothing.
”Drifter, when’s the last time you talked to Eris?”
”Oh I dunno… back on Europa?”
”When was that?”
”A while ago. What’re you implying?”
”Nothing.”
”Uh-huh.”
They continued walking through the Tower. Soon, the drifter’s bank came into view as the entered the dark room that was Drifter’s abode.
”Okay, yer in my head now. Lemme see that gun.”
The Guardian hands it to him. The centerpiece where the rounds would typically be loaded continues to glow a gentle purple.
”There’s no chamber. Where’d she say she got this?”
”She made it.”
”These are bones. Hive bones.”
”They’re her bones” the Guardian said.
”Whose?”
The guardian said nothing, looking at Drifter sternly.
”What the hell was she doing with the Witch Queen’s bones!”
”See what I mean?” The Ghost said to him.
”It’s just a token. A reminder. She said it would help kill the last Hive god.” The Guardian assured him.
”Damn straight! This could wipe out an entire Gambit match, no less a Hive God!”
”Don’t tell me you’re worrying about this Drifter. Think about all the dark things you’ve made. That Cannon that can wipe out Taken like it’s nothing, and that Grenade launcher that shoots blight? You make a living off of the darkest things in the universe and you’re worried about this?”
“Sure, I embrace the darkness. But this seems too far. Remember what she did to the Tower? Who she pretended to be while we simply walked by? She’s the god of deceit!”
”Was. If there was anything to worry about, it’s gone. She’s dead. We won. I’m going to talk to Shaxx about bringing this to the Crucible. Relax Drifter; we’ve all had a long day.”
The Ghost gave Drifter a look of worry, as if to tell him to keep an eye on his Guardian. Drifter understood.
