Quest- Blighted
The Oryx encounter in the raid has a chance to drop a 'Blighted Shard.' You can turn it into the Speaker for Vanguard rep. However, if you go to Eris (she won't have a marker over her head) she'll tell you the history of the gun that the shard came from.
"You... the Blight rejects you. You are strong... killer of Oryx, this shard respects you!"
You get a mission from her. She tells you to go to Earth, where you go through the area of the Omnigul strike. Fallen have taken up residence there. You clear them out and Eris appears in a cutscene.
She steps out a dark corner in the room, walking towards and then passing you. She stares at the ground, her back turned to you.
"The shard has bonded to your will. It is bound to those who have made great triumphs or great failures. You slayed the Taken King. Now, this shard calls into question..." she turns and takes a step toward you.
"Was that ultimately the right decision?"
Northbot pipes in. <There was no choice. Oryx would've killed us. Or Taken us.>
"I do not doubt your decision. You have given me hope when there was none. Remember what you did here, so long ago? Omnigul's shrieks... though it has been so long... they scar my mind. However, you gave me peace. The whispers of the Hive are silent to me now. This shard whispers to me in the way the Hive did. But it answers to your will. It hungers... it wishes to feed. Seek the Speaker. He shall know your path."
-the Guardian now has a waypoint on the Tower, but you can do whatever until you return to the Tower. Going there triggers a cutscene-
The Speaker: "Guardian... you have brought a shard of Oryx's power to the City! Why?"
Ghost: <Eris said you could... know our path.>
S: "Hmm... this is intriguing."
(If the Guardian has ever acquired the Thorn, Ghost says- )G: <Remember the Thorn? We can handle this.> (The rest of the dialogue does not change due to this line.)
S: "Alright, Guardian. Your abilities are to be trusted. But you will be tested at times through this journey. You may require some assistance. At any time, feel free to come to me. I will help you to the best of my ability."
-EDIT 1-
The Guardian gets a new step in the Blighted exotic quest. It reads thusly-
Ghost- "Eris sent us a transmission. According to her collaborations with the Speaker, the Shard has to be bonded with... some object before we can use it."
The Guardian has to fly to The Cauldron on the Moon in a new mission called "Bond the Shard." They arrive and must clear out Hive enemies until an ultra Ogre appears, called Holder of the Bond. You have to dunk a relic on it which appears around the map. Once you dunk the relic it is stunned and you shoot it. After 20 seconds it stands back up. Once you kill it, a cutscene is triggered.
[Ogre catches flame, and falls to the ground, roaring. A small cylinder falls to the ground, clinking and rolling away.]
Ghost- "It dropped something. Don't let it roll away."
The Guardian strolls over, and picks up the cylinder. The shard transmats into your hand.
Ghost- "Let's hope this will do it."
The shard appears to vibrate, then flies out of your hand and impacts the cylinder. It is knocked out of your hand by the hit, then it flies toward the center of the map. Your Ghost simply looks at you, and nods toward the map's center, near the puddle of water.
The scene cuts to the Guardian, standing over the pool, looking at the object seemingly absorbing energy from the pool of dark water. It appears to be on fire.
Ghost- "Reaching out to Eris. What is it doing?"
Eris- "Oh... no... it is growing in power. This piece is not interested in servitude. It seeks to control. You must conquer this power. Bathe it in the Light! Attune it to your own. Then we will continue the process."
-Mission ends-
Next Quest Steps-
Return to the Tower to pick up an infusion of light from the Speaker. He says-
"The Darkness in this object is growing. Quell it, Guardian."
The Guardian must then do the following-
Kill 100 minions of the Darkness with a Solar subclass equpped.
Kill 20 Guardians in the Crucible with Solar subclass abilities.
Kill 20 Guardians in the Crucible with Solar weapons.
Once done, return to Eris. She'll take the thing from you and the Quest halts. She holds onto it for a day.
Once a week she provides you with a weapon frame that goes in your Quest Items area. You have to get Solar kills on Hive and kill 5 Hive or Taken Hive majors/ ultras with Solar abilities.
At the 5th week, she gives you a more complete looking weapon and tells you to take it to Banshee. He tells you that you need a Hive runestone to make it function. If you have a Black Hammer runestone, you can use that, but if you don't you can kill hive until you get a Runestone item. When you get it, he says he has to make a few alterations, then he gives you a nearly completed gun.
He says- "I just need one final part. A Hive Combustor Element, which is usually found in Dreadnaughts. Be careful out there, Guardian." The item drops randomly from loot chests on the Dreadnaught. Get it, return to Banshee. He says, "Ahh, that fits in nicely. Never made a Hive weapon. Eris should tell you a bit more about it." The gun is complete. It goes into your Quest items. You go to Eris to trigger a cutscene. She then tells you that she acquired the design of the weapon from Toland's scribblings, as an early version of what he percieved to be Bad Juju. However, it was still a Weapon of Sorrow, and was powered by the Darkness regardless.
You then, after a lengthy and complex quest, acquire the Emerald Blight as a usable weapon. It drops at the DLC's cap attack, probably about 430-440.
What do you think?
